The typical defects of traditional gut strings are well known: poor weather resistance, poor durability and a surface that restricts the movement of the fingers of the left hand on the fingerboard (which is not the case with metal strings). With this type of gut string, we have solved all these problems once and for all: thanks to a special surface treatment, we were able to create gut strings with a hard and perfectly smooth surface, almost as if they were made of glass. At the same time, the durability and stability to climate change are significantly increased, without the sound under the fingers and under the bow being affected. The strings are made in dark red in homage to double bass player Scott LaFaro, who favoured gut strings of this colour.
